One Maryland gym is borrowing from the Geico philosophy and has introduced a "caveman jiujitsu" workout.
Shaddock MMA in Eldersburg created the workout, where a student partakes in tasks such as flipping wheels that look like they belong on an 18-wheeler in addition to hitting those wheels with a sledgehammer. A warm-up routine of crunches and push-ups are included in the workout as well, as are exercises like pressing a sandbag over one's shoulders.
Shaddock MMA owner John Shaddock said he got the idea for the workout after watching UFC stars Sean Sherk and Brock Lesnar perform similar workouts. Shaddock described the workout in an e-mail as "pretty rare" and a workout that offers "plyometric-type conditioning."
